Vanditta is the Founder and Managing Partner of VMH&Associates and leads the firm's practice in Mumbai. She is a well reckoned legal name in the media and entertainment industry for her strategic work and progressive advocacy in both fields of litigation as well as non-litigation work. She has been in the forefront of advocating progressive copyright laws and taking up other media and entertainment industry issues. She has successfully led the firm from traditional media practices to advanced and niche practices such as internet, digital industry etc. and other new age businesses and has been involved in assisting the clients in strategically navigating the complex legal landscape involving setting up systems & processes, documentation related to numerous business agreements, procuring licenses and permission etc.
She believes in providing solutions based advisory to her clients that too in short timelines. She advises various start -ups as well as renowned media companies across the world and she is a trusted advisor for both international and Indian companies with respect to the intellectual property laws as well as media and entertainment laws. She also serves on the board as an independent director of a leading content provider. She is also a founding member of the Global (Goa) IPR Protection Forum that propagates IP awareness and conducts various debates and discussions on various facets of IP.
She has been involved in various high-profile patent litigations and she has advised her clients on their patent portfolio for prosecution and enforcements as well as advisories such as FTO searches, litigation strategies, licensing etc.
Vanditta has represented various pharmaceutical companies for their patent related deliverables as well as for advisory work on DPCO and NPPA related matters and regulatory compliances. She has been involved in various matters related to pharmaceutical regulatory practices and has represented and advised clients in relation to challenging the constitutional validity of the DPCO, 2013, as well as challenging FDC notifications, price ceiling notifications, price fixation of scheduled drugs as notified by the NPPA, and more.
She has an extensive in-house experience of over a decade with India's leading media conglomerate Times Group where her last role was as Senior VP and Head of Legal, Entertainment Network (India) Limited (Radio Mirchi). Vanditta is a thought leader on various aspects of media and entertainment laws and has been responsible for numerous businesses at the Times Group: Events, Movies, Out of Home, Internet and Radio.
Vanditta is a commerce graduate from H. R. College and a law graduate from Government Law College, a premier institution in Mumbai. She began her career in law practice with one of India's prestigious law firms, Mulla & Mulla, Craigie, Blunt & Caroe, Solicitors and Advocates.
Her most notable achievements have been successful management of litigation for Times Group on issues of applicability of the most difficult compulsory and statutory license provisions of the Indian copyright law to radio and the internet business before the Supreme Court of India and various other Courts across India. She has been applauded for her extensive contribution towards reduction of music royalty rates for the radio and internet industry.
